Building with Logs

by Clyde P. Fickes and W. Ellis Groben

Historical text. Building codes, permits and fire safety rules apply to any structure you intend to live in.

Issued in September 1945, this Forest Service publication distills the log-building practice of its ranger stations and campground shelters into a short, heavily illustrated guide: selecting, cutting and seasoning logs, foundations and sills, corner joints, walls, roof framing, doors and windows, fireplaces and chimneys.

It is a natural next step after Dan Beard’s Shelters, Shacks and Shanties.
